The Slovene Film Directors Association was founded as a non-profit, non-governmental organisation in 2005, on the 100th anniversary of Slovene film. Prior to its establishment, Slovene film directors made up a section of the Association of Slovene Filmmakers. The Association unites Slovene professional film directors of all generations and aims at better condition for activities, encouraging directors to produce individual, free and creative work for presentation to both local and international audiences. The Association co-operates with other Slovene professional associations (writers, composers, etc) and represents Slovene directors in the Federation of European Film Directors.
