Theatre was active in the town of Jesenice from as early as 1895, although the Tone Čufar Theatre was not established until 1945. Today it produces its own shows (several of them directed by Gregor Cusin), hosts productions by Slovene National Theatre (SNG) Ljubljana - Drama, Slovene National Theatre (SNG) Maribor and Ljubljana City Theatre (MGL) and organises the annual Cufar Days competiton of amateur performances.
