The study of Philosophy at the University Ljubljana has existed since its founding in 1919. The Department of Philosophy presently offers three undergraduate programmes: (i) single-subject (BA Philosophy); (ii) two-subject with teaching specialisation (BA Teacher of Philosophy and another subject); and (iii) two-subject (BA Philosophy and another subject). Single-subject students can take additional classes in the teaching of philosophy at the Centre for Pedagogical Education of the Faculty of Arts and thus acquire a BA Philosophy - Teacher of Philosophy
Graduate studies include a two-year Masters Degree programme and a guided PhD programme, both covered with European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which allows for participants to combine their postgraduate studies in Ljubljana with their study on other universities, or to complete all of their postgraduate studies in Ljubljana. Exchange programmes (SOCRATES-ERASMUS, CEEPUS, university exchanges) also enable professors and students from other universities to participate in the graduate programme.
Both the Association for Analytical Philosophy and Science Philosophy and the Slovene Philosophical Association are based here. The Department has its own library.
