Based at the Department of History (Faculty of Arts), University of Ljubljana, the Union of Historical Societies of Slovenia (i) brings together historical societies all over Slovenia, promoting the views of its member societies and giving a national focus to matters of general concern, especially with regard to major issues of cultural heritage; (ii) encourages the study of Slovene history, the preservation and publication of historical material and public access to historical material; (iii) promotes communication and mutual assistance within the historical society movement; (iv) assists the work of member societies; and (v) provides a forum for the exchange of ideas on historical matters throughout Slovenia.
